WATERBURY--A neighborhood watch is on in Waterbury for a thief who stole Christmas trees from a local Catholic school.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, the "Grinch," as Saints Peter and Paul School is calling the thief, took a total of 10 Christmas trees from the tree lot, which is fenced off in the parking lot.

The school said the thief snatched the trees--which are sold as part of a fundraising effort for the school--early Saturday morning using an old, red SUV, and then returned early Sunday morning for more.

The scoundrel targeted the biggest, most expensive trees, which the school believes cost it and its students several hundred dollars.

"All the profit goes back to the school, it helps our children with the after-school program, our science lab, our computer lab," Linda Galvin, the school's advancement director, said.  "All the money that we would have raised through this generous benefit, it was taken."

One neighbor across the street has repositioned his house's security cameras to cover the tree lot in hopes of catching the thief on video, if he or she returns.
