WATERBURY--Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that was caught on camera.

On Friday, November 27 at 3:08 p.m. Waterbury Police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 352 Walnut St., on the sidewalk in front of a small grocery store.

Lt. Gilmore told FOX 61 on that date that a shooting victim had showed up at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, but details at the time were limited.

Police released surveillance video on their official Youtube page that depicts the shooting, and shows a clear image of the suspect's face. The suspect was dressed in a black hoodie and black Adidas gym pants. The video also shows several witnesses kicking bullet shell casings into a sewer grate on the sidewalk.

"This is broad daylight, on a  corner; it is unacceptable. It's not going to be tolerated and we'll bring that person to justice," said Waterbury Police Chief Vernon Riddick. "We know that someone in the community knows who this is and we're very confident that very shortly we'll be able to identify the shooter."

Warning: some may find this video too graphic or disturbing.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect. If you recognize any of the witnesses or the suspect, or have any information, please call Waterbury Police at 203-574-6941 or Crimestoppers at 203-755-1234.
