ROXBURY — A Roxbury man was arrested Wednesday, accused of making mass shooting threats on social media.

State Police Troop A officers responded to the complaints Wednesday afternoon and said the suspect wrote he wanted to “shoot up the DMV” on his Facebook page. Troopers were able to confirm the post’s authenticity and note it was still active.

Alexander Villarreal, 23, was arrested at his home that evening and processed without incident. He faces felony harassment and threatening charges, as well as misdemeanor breach of peace.

Villarreal was in possession of a firearm at the time of the arrest, which he surrendered peacefully. State Police say he held a pistol permit and owned the firearm legally.

Villarreal faced a Bantam Superior Court judge later that evening and was released on a $10,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear on January 6th.
