WALLINGFORD–Police are trying to find the origin of a dog that was discovered at the Tyler Hill Preserve Thursday afternoon.

At 1:10 p.m. a member of Wallingford’s Conservation Commission notified police that they’d found a dead dog at the bottom of an embankment in the Tyler Mill Preserve, which is located on Tyler Mill Road. The dog, a 1- to 3-year-old female brown shepherd mix with two white paws, was wrapped in a large, old blue tarp.

The dog’s injuries indicate she was shot near the back of her head, and the bullet exited her body through her front leg.

Police say the dog seems to have been left in the preserve within the past 24 hours.

The dog has been spayed, and was found without tags or a collar.

If you saw someone dispose of the blue tarp in the preserve or have any information where the dog came from, please call Wallingford Police 203-294-2805.
