MANCHESTER -- For those about to rock, the foundation is set at the Stone Age Rock Gym, where husband- and wife-team Jennifer Bona and Kevin West encourage their guests to take things to the next level.

“We’ve got bouldering, climbing, and top roping,” West said.

West and Bona have made a career of teaching people to rise to the top at the Manchester climbing gym they have owned for 18 years.

“Rock climbing is certainly very challenging,” West said. “We find people of all ages and abilities to enjoy this activity.”

Bona added, “One of the things that attracts me to climbing is the puzzle part of it, I like to finesse, I like to think.”

Stone Age offers climbing for all ages and abilities and also provides the chance for guests to sign up for outdoor climbs as well – including ice climbing trips—when winter conditions warrant. No matter if you climb indoors or outside; West says the benefits to grabbing hold of the sport are numerous.

“It builds focus and overall body strength… it’s quite an accomplishment for anyone to make it to the top of any of our walls.”

The Dtone Age Rock Gym in Manchester located at 195 Adams St. is open seven days a week. The Wests offer climbing for all abilities and a day pass with gear is about $20. Lessons cost extra.

They also hold family nights on Wednesday nights, winter camps, and group and party climbs. To find out more click here.
