NORTH HAVEN — Police charged a New Haven woman Tuesday after they said she collected her boyfriend’s pension checks for nearly five years since he died.

Police said David Shea earned a pension from a volunteer fire company in North Haven for several years before he died in December 2010.

Nancy Taneszio, Shea’s then girlfriend, failed to report his death and was collecting his pension since that time according to police.

Police said 57 pension checks were issued to Taneszio totaling $12,084.

Taneszio was charged with larceny first degree and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on December 10.
