Pedestrian hit by car in Hartford dies from injuries

HARTFORD  —  A local man hit by a car Friday night has died from his injuries.

Police responded to North Chapel Street and Ann Uccello Street at 10:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian hit by a Nissan Maxima. Respondents discovered a seriously injured man lying in the road. He was immediately transported to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center for emergency treatment.

The victim, Juan Ramos Jr., 56, of Hartford, was listed in critical condition and required life-saving procedures, which were ultimately unsuccessful.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner contacted authorities to report that the victim was pronounced dead by medical staff late Saturday.

The the driver of the car is cooperating with detectives as they determine what caused the accident. It is unknown if they will face charges.

The Hartford Police Department’s Crime Scene Division is handling the investigation.
