Bristol man found with gunshot wound

BRISTOL — A man with a gunshot wound was found near railroad tracks early Saturday.

Police dispatchers received a call from the victim just before 1am, stating he had been shot on Center Street. Respondents located the male victim, Travis Hapgood, 20, walking in the area near Summer Street. He had what police say was a “small caliber” gunshot wound in the area of his right hip.

Bristol EMS were called to the scene, where they transported the victim to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was listed in stable condition and then scheduled for surgery to remove the bullet fragments.

Currently, no suspects have been identified and any motive for the shooting is unknown. Detectives say the victim is being uncooperative with forthcoming information regarding the investigation. This incident is being handled by the Bristol Police Criminal Investigation Division.
