HARTFORD - Middle school girls at Pathways Academy of Technology and Design participated in a 'hackathon' event Saturday morning.
The event was planned for girls to get involved with designing apps.
Tiyah Thompson, a student at the academy, planned the hackathon for minority girls to get involved in coding and designing apps for your smartphone.
Thompson developed a textbook app with another classmate and now wants to introduce the growing technology field to other girls who may be interested in this career path.
