WINDSOR LOCKS — A police cruiser was struck twice by a vehicle that took off from a car break-in early Monday morning.

The incident started around 3:30 a.m. Monday when a resident of Greenfield Drive reported seeing someone going through their vehicle.

When police arrived, the officer saw a Mazda CX9 with six people inside. The SUV hit the cruiser and drove off with the officer following it.

When the vehicle went into a condo parking lot, the officer tried to block the Mazda, but the driver hit the cruiser again. The operator then drove through several yards and on to Old County Road. Police were not able to apprehend the suspects.

The officer was not injured and there was minor damage to the cruiser.

Six residents have reported their vehicles being broken into in the Greenfield Drive, Autumn Drive, and George Road area.
