DANBURY — Police arrested a 79-year-old man after they said he swung a machete at his neighbor who was using a leaf blower in his yard.
Saturday afternoon, police were called to a dispute on Dogwood Lane after one resident complained that his neighbor came at him with a machete. Charles Middlebrook, 79, was arrested on attempted assault, unlawfully carrying a deadly instrument and breach of peace.
Police said a resident was using a leaf blower on his own property and Middlebrook started an argument about leaves and dust being blown into his yard next door. Middlebrook then grabbed a machete and charged toward the homeowner, swinging and striking the leaf blower, according to police.
Middelbrook told police the homeowner was antagonistic with the leaf blower, pointing at Middlebrook’s face and car.
He was released on a promise to appear in court and is scheduled to appear in court on December 14.
