Hamden votes to have landlords live with student tenants

HAMDEN -- The town of Hamden passed a new regulation Tuesday night requiring landlords to live in the homes that they rent to Quinnipiac University students.

The New Haven Register reports that the Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously with hopes of cutting down the number of absentee landlords renting homes to students in residential areas.

The ordinance would cover new applications for student housing.
