HARTFORD — Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened around noon on Wednesday.

Police say they got 911 reports that someone had been shot near the intersection of Albany Avenue and Baltimore Street, and a short time later a black man arrived at the ER at Saint Francis with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. He was driven there in a private car. The victim was pronounced dead at 12:33 p.m.

Police have identified the victim as Joseph Lindsey, 45, of Hartford.

The death is the city’s 30th homicide of the year.

Police say they don’t have any suspects at this time.

Just seven hours later, an anti-violence vigil that was planned before the stabbing was held at Hartford City Hall. Organizers say they put the program together after the 28th homicide of the year.

Victims’ families shared their stories with other members of the community who have also experienced the pain of loss.

The event was organized by Mothers United Against Violence.
