HARTFORD — A 22-year-old man has died after being shot at Griswold Street near the Maple Avenue intersection.
Police said Edison Burge, 22, of Hartford, died Saturday afternoon.
Police responded to 20 Griswold Street around 4:20 p.m. for reports that a person was shot.
When they arrived, officers found the man suffering from a gun shot wound to the neck. He was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Police describe the street where the shooting occurred as a relatively quiet neighborhood on the south end of Hartford.
Hartford Police Department Major Crimes Division and crime scene detectives are currently investigating.
There were initial reports that a car fled following the shooting and police say they found significant evidence on scene that will hopefully lead to an arrest.
This death is Hartford’s 31st homicide of the year.
