HARTFORD — Temporary repairs were made to an overhead power system that Amtrak said caused delays of one to two hours in the busy Northeast corridor Wednesday afternoon.

Amtrak used diesel engines for limited operation Wednesday between Penn Station and New Rochelle, New York.

Electric operation resumed in the impacted area, though residual delays could be expected through Wednesday evening.

Electric service between New York City and New Haven, Connecticut, had been delayed, rippling through the Northeast Corridor, causing what Amtrak called “significant delays.”
