Anila Keco, 34, is charged with first-degree manslaughter and her bond was set at $200,000. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 13.
Detectives said Keco admitted to stabbing her husband, Valmir Keco, 43, in the chest with a paring knife as he came at her with a clenched fist.
According to the police report, the Albanian couple were arguing because he had been drinking and they were supposed to go Christmas shopping for their seven- and ten-year-old daughters.
Neighbor Ezequiel Alicea said Keco banged on his door after the stabbing.
"I was like, 'What's going on?' and I see the knife on top of the table so I figure 'Oh My God.'" Alicea recalled.
Alicea said he saw Keco try to stop her husband's bleeding with a dish rag.
Family told Fox61 that her husband was abusive and a drunk, and that the stabbing was self-defense.
