NEW HAVEN--A family of children in New Haven got a very happy surprise on Christmas morning.

The Cordoba children each received a new bicycle, all donated to Cindy Dillon at the Kingdom International Economic Development after she and the organization worked to replace gifts stolen from a New Haven police station.

The bikes come from students at the New Horizons School, who work to fix up bikes and sell them. But when they heard about the stolen gifts, they wanted to donate the fruits of their efforts.

Dillon chose the Cordobas to get the bikes after meeting them at the police substation where the initial gift donations were stolen from. The Cordobas, like other families, didn't have enough for presents this Christmas.

"I was taking notes on who really needed and wanted to be empowered and with nine children and one on the way, the husband out of work, they are doing the best they can," Dillon explained of why she chose the family.

And Talia Cordoba, the matriarch of the family, didn't let the good deed go unnoticed. "This is a good lady and not because she helped my family, she goes above and beyond," she said.
