NEW BRITAIN – Every family has their own traditional Christmas foods, and for some that meal is Chinese food.
Every year, Great Taste Restaurant in New Britain is packed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Only people with reservations can get a table.
Co-Owner Frank Kwonk says after almost 30 years, he recognizes familiar faces that come every December 25. Often right before or after going to the movies.
“All the families haven’t seen each other for a long time or friends, and this is a time where everybody just gets together,” said Kwonk.
He says not only are there more people, but they stay almost twice as long this time of year.
Kwonk says, “We’re an old fashioned Chinese restaurant with dishes that people are familiar with. Everybody knows what they’re going to get here.”
