Man arrested after minor reports sexual assaults over 2 years in Milford

MILFORD–Police have made an arrest after a minor was sexually assaulted over a period of two years.

On October 15, 2015, Milford Police received a report that a child had been sexually abused in Milford between 2008 and 2010.

The investigation involved the state’s Special Investigations Unit and Department of Children and Families, and a suspect was identified and evidence was found to support the claims.

On December 24 James Maher, 45, turned himself in after learning of a warrant out for his arrest.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, and four counts of risk of injury to a minor. He was released on $75,000 bond.
