BLOOMFIELD -- With temperatures Tuesday in single digit range Governor Malloy announced he activated the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol. It is in effect thru the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 5.

“While we’ve experienced mild temperatures over the past several weeks, the new year has brought some cold weather. I am activating our severe cold weather protocol to initiate essential services to protect our most vulnerable,” Governor Malloy said.  “Anyone in need of shelter is urged to call 2-1-1 to find the nearest shelter or warming center.”

The Town of Bloomfield warming centers are open as follows:

The Alvin & Beatrice Wood Human Services Center

  • 330 Park Avenue

  • Hours: 8:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday & Tuesday
  • Please use the Community/Youth Center entrance on the west side of the building

Prosser Library

McMahon Wintonbury Library

  • The Town will provide water, but residents are asked to bring their own food. Please remember to also bring medications, emergency contact phone numbers, and any other items you may need during the day. Service dogs are always welcome.

Blue Hills Fire Department
