Southington home invasion

SOUTHINGTON — Police are searching for three suspects in a home invasion on Meriden Waterbury Turnpike.

Police were called around 6:41 p.m. on Monday evening. The resident, Daniel Morin, 43, reported that he was a victim of a home invasion.

“He reported to dispatch that three armed intruder’s had entered his home and confronted him at gunpoint,” said Lt. Michael Baribault, of the Southington Police Department.

Morin was shot during the invasion and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Morin was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon and is with family.

Police said Morin and a woman were inside his home when three individual dressed all in black with , guns, gloves and masks forced their way inside. Morin was shot in the arm during a fight with the intruders.

“Mr. Morin confronted one of the individuals, who entered the home,” said Baribault. “A struggle ensued, at which time the individual, who entered his home, fired two shots striking him in the upper arm.”

The suspects went through the house before running away. Police K-9 unit checked the area, but the suspects were not located. Police said they could not tell if anything was taken from the home.

Police said the victim was targeted in the incident and the public is not at risk.

Police have been called to this residence before, but not for anything they would consider connected to last night’s incident.

“He had an issue with someone that had been living with him before, just a simple simple matter where he didn’t want the person on the property again and he had a vehicle vandalized at his home,” according to Baribault.
