CROMWELL -- The FBI is spending a second day investigating outside a home in Cromwell. About a dozen local agents arrived on Prospect Hill Road with heavy equipment around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The property is connected to an unsolved murder and missing person case from the 1990s. Officials began digging at the property Tuesday morning.

Wednesday, FBI agents taped off about 100 yards of the area and said they will be out there for most of the day.

FBI continues investigation into 1990s missing person case, murder in Cromwell

Seventeen years ago, former Hartford police officer Julio Camacho was named as a prime suspect in the disappearance of his girlfriend, Rosa Delgado, 21, and their daughter, Rosita Camacho, 4. Delgado's body was found in New Jersey in 1998, but Rosita is still listed as a missing child. Camacho was never charged in the case.

Police sources tell FOX 61 Camacho used to live on the property that is being searched. The home burned down in May of 2003. Neighbors say he didn't live there at the time of the fire,  and a different couple lives in the house that currently sits there.

The FBI says that the investigation is an isolated case and there is no threat to the public, but would not comment further on the specifics of the investigation.

Police sources confirm that Camacho is currently incarcerated in the Norfolk, Virginia City Jail on a charge of failure to comply with financial support obligations, which is related to failure to pay either child or spousal support. He was sent to jail in February 2014, and is set to be released from jail next month.
