LEDYARD — A Groton man was killed Thursday night after a head-on collision on Route 12 in Ledyard. Route 12 between Route 214 and North Glenwoods Road was closed in both directions for several hours while crews investigated.
Ledyard Police were called to the crash around 6 p.m.
Mose Jones, 64, of Groton was taken to Hartford Hospital in a Life Star helicopter, but later died from his injuries.
Andrea Bettencourt, 53, of Uncasville was taken to Backus Hospital with serious injuries.
Police are still investigating what caused the crash. The road has since reopened.
