BRISTOL -- The cafeteria was open for dinner Friday night at Bristol Central High School.
A pasta fundraiser netted more 400 people and over $7,500 for Alex Milosevic's medical expenses fund.
The 2015 BCHS graduate was caught in a five-vehicle accident on I-84 in Waterbury last week. Milosevic was badly injured, and his 19-year-old girlfriend, Casey Lynne Giannone, of Beacon Falls, died in the crash.
Milosevic doesn't have medical insurance and the costs for his recovery are expected to spike.
"It's just sad because it's one of your brothers," said Bob Jacques, a fellow football player and 2014 graduate. "You don't want anyone to go through that. But when it's someone that close to you it just hurts even more.
Jacques and his father came up with the idea to have a pasta fundraiser, and in a matter of days, everyone was on board to help out.
"We have gotten so many donations from area businesses, the bread's been partially donated, the tickets were donated Cousins Oils donated 150 gallons for our raffle prizes," said Michele Hildebrand, president of the BCHS football booster club. "I'm amazed at everything that's been setup for it."
