HARTFORD--On May 10, 2002, Harry Baez was murdered on Center Street in the North End of Hartford after a large fight broke out between two groups of individuals.
Baez jumped in the fight to defend a friend, who was getting beat up, when a man on a bicycle came by and shot him in the head. His brother, Benjamin Baez, was shot as well and was badly injured. However, he was able to help the police with describing the shoter.
A year later, on June 11, 2003, Baez's brother, Benjamin, was killed less than a mile away.
Hartford Police were very familiar with Benjamin Baez. He was a person heavily involved in criminal activity and most likely, he knew his killers.
