HARTFORD — Over the last 12 years, the Puppy Bowl has become a Super Bowl Sunday staple.  Now, for the second year in a row, some well-deserving pups from Connecticut get a shot at the action.

The Connecticut Humane Society is participating in Puppy Bowl XII.

“Last year’s promotion was a resounding success and we can’t wait to join in the fun again,” CHS wrote on their website. “Last year, appearances generated calls, emails and social media buzz around the country with people from as far away as Louisiana and Illinois reaching out to learn about CHS.”

Animal Planet, which hosts the Puppy Bowl, promotes pet adoption and works with animal welfare groups across the country. More than 80 dogs will compete on the Puppy Bowl XII gridiron.

“CHS would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Animal Planet for including us in this important promotion,” organizers said.

The CHS pups will be available for adoption in Newington and Westport the week after their final appearance on February 7. You can learn more about pet adoption through CHS here.

Puppy Bowl XII airs Sunday, February 7 at 3 p.m.
