KEENE, N.H. — Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy is in New Hampshire this weekend to stump for Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

The Hartford Courant reports that Malloy fired up volunteers Saturday morning in Keene with a defense of Clinton’s controversial use of emails. Malloy told volunteers they’d likely get questions about it while going door-to-door. Malloy describes the email controversy as a “gigantic smear.”

The Democratic governor kicked off the two-day tour Friday afternoon in Hampton, where he told gun control activists at a local campaign office that Clinton is a better candidate than rival Bernie Sanders because she’s voted for tougher gun regulations.

Malloy traveled to Milford later that evening to fire up Clinton supporters there.

He is expected to make other stops in New Hampshire, including in Manchester and Exeter.
