NEW HAVEN — Police arrested two men in connection with a fight and stabbing early Monday.

Officers were called to Libra’s Cafe, 56 Main St., shortly after 1 a.m.  for reports that two men were attacked. The victims gave police a description of the suspect’s vehicle and officers stopped it a short time later.

The victims were able to identify Kadhim Alsubaih, 23, of New Haven and Ahmed Roomi, 21, of New Haven.

Roomi was charged with breach of peace and larceny. Alsubaih was charged with breach of peace and assault. Police said a fight broke out in the cafe and the victims tried to break it up when one was cut by Alsubaih and the other was hit and had his phone stolen after it was dropped in the melee.

Police found a bloody knife and the victim’s cell phone in the suspect’s car. The victim’s injury was serious but not life threatening.
