HARTFORD -- After a snowfall, it can be hard to clean up. Shoveling, putting sand down and cleaning off your car are all exhausting activities, but that last one is key.

You may not be aware, but it is actually illegal to drive if there is any accumulated snow or ice on top of your car.

State Police say that if your car is not cleared, you can get a $120 fine, while if you have an obstructed view the fine is $92. If you have both, that's $212.

The ice and snow must be off the top of your car, in addition to all the windows, the hood and the back.

Also, before you start your car, make sure the area around your exhaust/tailpipe is clear.
