SOUTHINGTON--"This will be an everlasting love...you and me, yes sir-ee, eternally."

Yes, those are the lyrics to Natalie Cole's classic, but they are also quite apt to describe an event that took place in Southington just days before Valentine's Day.

On Friday, five couples who have been married for 40 to 60 years renewed their vows at the Mulberry Gardens, an assisted living community.

They spoke about their favorite memories together, but also about how the future is remind them of their past.

"It's really something you should do because it makes you realize you took sacred vows and to do it again is just wonderful it makes us very happy," said Tom Scanlon, who got married his wife Sue in 1955!

The timeless couple say the secret to marriage is being patient with one another, and always communicating.
