COLCHESTER -- The bitter cold has been flooding plumbers with calls for help.
Pipes freezing up and bursting have been keeping plumbers busy since the weekend.
A.I. Boerenko Plumbing said in less than 24 hours they had about 20 jobs.
The owner, Adam Boerenko, said with temperatures warming up drastically the freeze-thaw process could become an even bigger problem.
"Typically, the day that it warms up after a long freeze is the worst day," Boerenko pointed out. "People that ignore their frozen pipes, and don't get them thawed out before they break. Literally, hear them let go, and then they hear water rushing."
Boerenko said a safe space heater, like oil-filled ones, are an effective tool to keep pipes from freezing in colder areas of your home, such as garages.
