NORTH BRANFORD–A woman has been arrested after police say she stole from the local youth basketball league.
In November 2014, the North Branford Police Department began investigating reports from the board members of the North Branford youth Basketball League, a non-profit organization, that there were financial improprieties. The board members were accusing the treasurer, who was Donna Ricci at the time, of refusing to provide financial records that she alone had access to.
According to police, Ricci stole about $20,000 from the league.
The investigation, which included a forensic audit, led to the arrest of Donna Ricci for one count of larceny in the first degree.
Ricci turned herself in on Monday and was released on a $10,000 bond. She’ll appear in court on February 25.
