WORCESTER — A Bridgeport man arrested in connection with the theft of skeletal human remains from a Massachusetts cemetery has pleaded not guilty.

Felix Delgado Jr. was arraigned Thursday on multiple counts of disinterring a body. He was ordered held on $100,000 bail and will return to court March 15.

Delgado was arrested in Connecticut on Feb. 2 as part of an ongoing investigation involving missing human remains stolen from the two mausoleums in Hope Cemetery in Worcester.

Delgado told police he is a Santeria priest. Santeria mixes Roman Catholicism with a traditional African faith and developed in the Caribbean.

In December, a Hartford man who also said he was a Santeria priest pleaded not guilty to stealing human remains from the same cemetery.

Delgado’s lawyer declined further comment on the case.
