MILFORD--Things were heating up at Platt Technical High School in Milford on Friday.

Heather Profetto, who just won reality competition "Chopped" in December and also owns Rainbow Gardens Restaurant & Bar in Milford, came to cook with the kids.

"I really believe in working with kids who are thinking about going into this industry and sharing with them the skills that I've honed over my 35 years in this business," Profetto said.

Profetto was on the episode "Family Affair," which featured four contestants--all from the Profetto family, and all who work together at Rainbow Gardens! Two of those contestants, her husband John and her sister Kate Campbell, joined her at Platt.

"Winning chopped is very exciting. I mean, it was a challenge certainly if you're familiar with the show they put a lot of weird stuff in that basket," Profetto said.

The Orchard at Platt Tech is a restaurant that's open four days a week, and its run by 85 students--all of whom participated in the event with Profetto.

"What I hope what the kids take away is an idea of what they can do with the skills they're learning here," said Profetto.
