SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Just days before Super Tuesday, Gov. Dan Malloy made a stop in Springfield, Massachusetts to campaign for Hillary Clinton.

“She gets it. The little stuff and the big stuff, the personal stuff, and the policy stuff,” said Malloy.

Massachusetts polls show Clinton behind Democratic rival Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders with Clinton grabbing 42 percent to Sanders' 49 percent.

Malloy said gun safety is the key issue that separates Clinton from Sanders. Five times during his speech he pointed to Sanders’ voting against the Brady Bill, which mandates federal background checks on gun purchases.

“You can't go to the polls and not have guns on your mind and he's failed miserably,”  Malloy said.

Another recent poll shows Republican candidate Donald Trump with 50 percent of the vote in the five-way Republican primary in Massachusetts, followed by Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, and Ben Carson.

“I don't think we should underestimate Trump,” Malloy said.
