GREENWICH-- A kindergartner from Orange has some people standing and cheering for his immense talent, and they're not just trying to make the youngster feel good.
At only 5 years old, Jason Chen's passion and talent for the piano is astounding.
Jason, who has performed at Carnegie Hall twice in his short life, practices in a Greenwich studio under the guidance of teacher Felicia Zhang, who calls him one of the brightest students she’s had in 25 years of teaching.
“He is indeed an exceptional talent,” Zhang said.
Chen, who has already been honored by the American Association for the Development of the Gifted and Talented with a gold medal in its music competition, told FOX 61 he also likes playing hockey and soccer.
While appearing on stage at Carnegie Hall just once in a lifetime is a huge accomplishment, the elementary school student is scheduled for his third such performance this weekend as part of the Young Maestro’s Concert.
Dr. Jie Deng, Jason’s mother said, “We’re happy to see him go as far as he can in this trek.”
