12-year-old hit by car while riding bike in Montville

MONTVILLE – Route 163 is back open after a 12-year-old boy was hit by a car Saturday morning.

The accident happened around 10:30 a.m on Saturday. Route 163 was initially shut down between Oxoboxo Road and Terrace Drive.

According to police, the boy was riding a bike down his grandparent’s driveway when he rode into traffic and the car hit himn. The driver of the car stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.

The boy suffered head injuries, and was first taken to Backus Hospital then to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. There is no word on the severity of the injuries.
