HARTFORD -- The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and the United Way are helping low-income families prepare their taxes at no charge. Last year, the 300 volunteers helped nearly 11,000 filers receive $28.4 million in refunds and credits.
Individuals can find out if they qualify and set up appointments by calling 2-1-1, or clicking on 211ct.org.
