PORTLAND, Ore. — A pastry or a puppy? A Portland woman is posting pictures online that have tens of thousands of people doing double takes.

Scroll through Karen Zack’s Twitter page and you’ll notice two major themes—animals and food. But she says she’s more of an animal lover than a foodie, says KPTV.

At first glance, Zack’s “Chihuahua or muffin” meme looks like a collage of blueberry muffins. But look a little closer and notice all the little snouts and whiskers. Posted on Wednesday, in just 24 hours, the puppy meme has racked up over 19,000 likes and more than 22,000 shares.

Then there’s the “Labradoodle or fried chicken” meme, which has also generated thousands of retweets.

Zack says she started posting animal-themed pics a few months ago and got such a great response that she kept it up.

“I looked up a bunch of [pictures of] ducklings, because ducklings are adorable, and I was laughing at so many photos I saved in my photo album. That’s when I realized it looks like when you stir up plantains on the stove, so I guess that’s how it all started,” says Zack.

She doesn’t take the photos herself; she says she just Googles pictures of animals and food, and when she spots a resemblance she puts them together.

“I think people have been making comparisons with animals to food for a while, so I was shocked when it started going viral because I thought it was a normal thing,” explains Zack.

She says she plans to keep posting animal and food photos, and hopes it sends a positive message about the power of social media and humor. And it looks like a lot of people are getting the message–with news outlets, like New York Magazine and The Huffington Post, spreading the word about her memes.

And Zack says there’s much more to come.
