Police investigating ‘White Power’ flyers found on cars in Southington

So far, police have received only two reports. One flier appeared on a car in the parking lot of the YMCA on High Street, and the other on a car at the YMCA gymnastics facility on Plant Place.

Lt. Michael Baribault said one of the recipients of the fliers happened to be a black woman, but it's not clear if she was targeted specifically.

Baribault pointed out that whoever distributed the fliers can be cited for doing so on private property, but not necessarily for the white supremacist message the fliers promoted.

"It's something we take seriously, we want to look at and make sure there isn't more to it, and if there is we want to end it immediately," Baribault said.

The Anti Defamation League said it's in contact with Southington Police. The organization also said the American Nazi Party is based in Michigan and it has no organized presence in Connecticut.  However, the fliers can easily be printed off its website.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 860-621-0101.
