COLCHESTER–It’s nice when a scary situation ends up giving you peace of mind.

A Colchester resident called 911 at night on March 10 after hearing a crash on the first floor. The resident thought someone was breaking in, but that ended up not being the case.

Police responded quickly with a German Shepard in tow to try and track the “suspect,” but police quickly realized the so-called intruder was actually a deer that broke into the resident’s storm door on the home’s breezeway!

The resident was glad for the inconvenience though. “I cannot tell you how important it is to me to absolutely know that I can count on such an expeditious form of security and safety in my town. Thank you so much for that peace of mind,” the resident wrote in a letter to police after the incident.

As police said, “This could only happen in Colchester!”
