TORRINGTON — Officials said fog was a factor in the crash that left one man seriously injured when a tractor-trailer and a car collided early Thursday.
The accident happened around 3:45 a.m.at the intersection of Kennedy Drive and Winsted Road. Police said that the truck driver had overshot the intersection and was backing up into the street when the driver of the car hit the trailer.
The driver of the car, a 54-year-old man from Torrington, was taken to Waterbury Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck, a man in his 30s from Minnesota, was not injured.
Officials did not release the names of the drivers involved.
