NEWTOWN — A theater director and acting coach was arrested Thursday for allegedly enticing several minors for sex.

A Newtown High School resource officer began investigating after complaints filed in November 2015 suggested a predatory relationship between a juvenile and an older individual.

Matthew Madden, 25, an employee of Sabrina’s Encore Productions, allegedly began a highly inappropriate conversation with the complainant, making her extremely uncomfortable.

Detectives say the suspect contacted several other young females over a five year span, using his position at the theater company to take advantage of victims to lure them for sex.

Madden turned himself in on Thursday after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. He was booked and subsequently charged with three counts of enticing a minor, three counts of risking injury to a minor and two counts of sexual assault.

The suspect later posted a $100,000 bond and was released. He is next scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on April 5.
