DES MOINES, Iowa — The top overall seeded Kansas Jayhawks built an early 20-point lead and held off Connecticut 73-61.

The Jayhawks have won 16 straight games. Wayne Selden Jr. had 22 points and seven rebounds. Perry Ellis scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Kansas next plays the winner of Sunday’s Hawaii-Maryland game. For UConn, it’s the first NCAA tourney defeat for coach Kevin Ollie, who ran the table in 2014 as a No. 7 seed.
