LITCHFIELD -- State police are investigating after nearly 100 unlocked vehicles were broken into in Litchfield from Saturday to Sunday.

Police said the car break-ins were in the area of North Lake Street, South Lake Street, Spencer Street, West Street, East Litchfield Road and Naser Road. No locked cars were broken into.

Kim Beach said she usually locks her car, but forgot Saturday night.

The thieves stole her old iPod from the cup holder in her car.  "It has pictures on it that I'll never be able to replace," Beach said.

There has been an uptick in car break-ins over the past few months, according to police.

Police always remind you to keep your car locked and any valuable items out of sight and in your trunk. If you have security camera footage of the incidents please contact Trooper Robert Olechowski at 860-626-7900.
