BRIDGEPORT— Bridgeport police have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man last month.

Police say 32-year-old Bernard Brandon will be charged with murder, carrying a pistol without a permit and other crimes related to the Feb. 11 shooting. Bond will be set at $1 million when he is found.

Javoni Patton was found in the street at the intersection of Stratford and Connecticut avenues suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Patton was found near his car. The car’s door was open and his personal items were strewn about the street.

Witnesses told investigators they heard several gunshots and then saw the victim get out of his car and stumble into the intersection, where he collapsed.

It was the city’s first homicide of the year.

Brandon’s last known address is on Hollister Avenue in Bridgeport.
