HAMDEN — A car slammed into a home in Hamden Tuesday morning, causing significant damage to the house and collapsing the entire front porch.

A two-car crash sent the SUV flying into the home at the corner of Whitney Ave and Waite Street before 11:30 a.m., Hamden Police said. The two drivers both suffered minor injuries and were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital.

Two people were inside the home at the time, but were not hurt.

Hamden Building Inspector Robert Lubulis was called to the scene to examine the structural integrity of the home. It was determined that the residents would not have to leave their home during repairs.

The area was closed while police investigated but has since reopened.
