HARTFORD — High winds knocked down trees, causing power outages across Connecticut early Tuesday morning. State Police headquarters in Middletown lost power as well.
By late morning, most of the power outages had been restored, according to outage maps for both United Illuminating and Eversource. Power was back on for State Police around 10:15 a.m.
Several trees toppled over in Hartford’s Elizabeth Park.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of the state Tuesday, and we're expecting westerly winds to howl at 20-30 mph, with higher gusts up to 50 mph. That’s strong enough to take down a few weak tree limbs or knock down your trash can. The strongest winds will last until noon.
Most of the affected homes were in Western Connecticut, including Danbury, Sherman, and Stratford.
