NEW BRITAIN - A pair of Blue Devils at Central Connecticut State University are doing good for some residents near campus with disabilities.
As part of a class project, Jenn Bailey and Danielle Saunders, both 32, are trying to raise $60,000 to get a generator installed at 161 Broad Street.
The apartment building is run by Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain, which rents to people with low to moderate incomes. Many of them have disabilities.
During power outages, those residents with disabilities can't get out of the building because the elevator doesn't work.
"We absolutely need a generator," said Nydia Aponte, who is wheelchair-bound.
Her neighbor, Fred Graves, also in a wheelchair, added, "Sometimes just getting out of the house just gives you some sanity."

The social work majors are also running fundraisers at the restaurants where they work: Wednesday night at Maratta's Front Row in Farmington and the April 6 at Plan B in Glastonbury.
