HARTFORD — A police chase that started in Hamden ended in Hartford Wednesday morning.

Hamden Police received reports of suspicious persons who were tampering with parked cars in the area of Dunbar lane.

Moments later officials said officers attempted to stop a Toyota Corolla that had fled from the area at a high rate of speed. The driver of the vehicle would not stop for the officers and headed north on Route 15 as the people inside threw items out of the car. Police eventually determined that the Toyota was stolen.

As police alerted other departments, the car traveled north.

Hartford police said they were informed about a car chase from Hamden. The Toyota stopped on Stonington Street near Colt Park around 3 a.m. and the occupants ran from the vehicle.

K-9 units deployed to the area could not pick up a scent. The vehicle was recovered and is being processed by Hamden Police.
